The 5th Annual Bash For New York's Bravest
On November 2, 2005, the Leary Firefighters Foundation held its 5th Annual BASH for New YorkÕs Bravest at Capitale. The BASH is widely recognized as one of the best parties in town, and this year was no exception. Over 800 people gathered to honor New YorkÕs Bravest, raising over $750,000 for the development and construction of the FDNYÕs first-ever High Rise Simulator, a state-of-the-art training facility that will recreate the complex conditions that firefighters face when confronting large-scale multiple dwelling fires. A portion of the proceeds were also directed to the Jeremiah Lucey Grant Program, which makes grants to Uniformed Fire Departments affected by the Hurricane Katrina tragedy.
Co-hosts Denis Leary and Lenny Clarke were joined by Chief Nicholas Santangelo to honor the brave firefighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty in the January 23rd fires here in New York.
The evening also featured extraordinary live and silent auction items, including a walk on the red carpet with Tom Cruise at the premiere of Mission Impossible:3; four tickets to see the Rolling Stones perform in Los Angeles, including transportation aboard a private jet; a speaking role on the hit FX series "Rescue Me"; and the opportunity to train with celebrity stunt coordinator Danny Aiello III.
